It has been interesting, the ways to occupy oneself in the midst of this terrible and unending winter. My recent preoccupations include NPR. It can be a comforting tool to me, maybe because my mom used to listen to it to it has a comforting familiarity. Also, it has the power to may me laugh and cry which is helpful when you start to feel numb or as if everything has frozen, including heart and soul. Here are two interviews of musical artists that have inspired me this winter, Cat Power and BellX1

Cincinnati, It is closer to Kentucky than you think. You can buy cheap cigs in Kentucky. Mom and Larry live in C, ohio now, we get to go there to visit every so often. This is what we do
Find alternate routes to avoid tolls and increase adventure.
Drive on Ronald Regan Highway.
Arrive at 2 a.m.
Wake up mom, larry, lauren, kirby.
Sleep.
Wake and drink dunkin donuts coffee.
Drive to Kentucky
Go to Dave’s destination of choice, vintage musical instrument and gear shop.
Drink Coffee
Consider getting tatoos.
back to cincinnati.
get 5 way chili
find more cool shops for records, books, shoes and magazines!
look for costume shops
drive home to open presents and eat cake for mom’s 50th birthday.
watch john prine on TV
play video games
play board games
make a hat
laugh and laugh.
Sleep
eat huge breakfast
give everyone lots of hugs
drive away

Decent Ruby Slippers
Hi all. Today I was at good old workie poo shoving boring mail into mailbox slots, when all of a sudden I saw a flash of fire shooting up at me from the ground. Dear me, has a portal from the Earth’s core been opened up before my eyes? Is molten lava shooting up through the tiles? Did some renegade hero release gases in the sewage system while escaping from his or her unjust holding chamber and then throw a grenade into it thus causing a massive explosion underground and forcing all available outlets to shoot flames?
No, it was none of these. It was simply Kate of human resources’ shoes. Her Dorothy shoes, she tells me. Just as powerful a force as any other.
